Finding Peace In Medical Decisions

When we are overwhelmed with medical decisions, how do we know which to choose and how do we find peace in the uncertainty? In Proverbs 16:9 NIV, it is written, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

Next time you have a health or medical decision to make, place God FIRST in this process. Turn to Him and pray to Him knowing He will give you an answer. And when I mean “answer,” this does not mean He will audibly give you a response. Instead, it means something different. Once you have turned to God and trust in His sovereignty, He “establishes your steps.” Therefore, you can confidently make a decision and you can not go wrong. 

You see, with our all powerful God in your corner, He will guide you on the right path. If you are headed in a direction that He doesn’t want you to go, He will set up the blockade to stop its progression and, if He wants you to proceed with the plan you have chosen, everything will align as it should. When we place God first in every aspect of our lives, we don’t have to worry that we will ever go off track! No matter what we believe we have control over in making decisions, He is still ultimately guiding our steps and, if something is not meant to happen, then He will stop it. 

Approaching health uncertainties in this way, the correct and true way, according to God’s Word, will sustain your heart in a level of peace and comfort that is beyond understanding! And by the unbelievable nature of His masterful hand, this spiritual state will also naturally induce physical healing in our bodies! 

It is a win-win situation when we place God first in our health (and truly every aspect of our lives)! He loves you and is for you! So, next time you are stuck in trying to make a medical decision, in the face of uncertainty, trust that the One Who said “He will never leave you nor foresake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV) is ultimately in control working all things together for your good! God is blessing you!
